About Us

Who are we?

Discovery Fellowship meets In the suburb of Bremerton (Manette). We are an Assembly of God (www.aog.com), Northwest Ministry Network Church (www.nwministry.com),  although our people come from a diverse denominational and non-denominational backgrounds. In 2006 we purchased the Old Manette School (Our current place of worship) prior to that we existed downtown Bremerton on our 5th and Warren Property for more than 50 years. Discovery was started in the 1950's to reach the growing number of sailors that were moving into our community. Over the years our downtown location became a inner-city ministry resource for the community with a weekly meal site and outreach programs to the growing homeless population.

Moving to the Manette location has evolved our opportunity to reach a greater diverse population of our community as well as continue to support inner-city ministry through continued partnerships with local faith based social service ministries. We work extensively with a number of local Business and Community organizations to make a difference in our area.

Our main Celebration Gathering happens on Sundays at 10:30am and we have numerous small groups including; Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University, Home Builders and Honorbound Discipleship for men and women. Our Kid's Clubs (Royal Rangers & Girls MPact) meet on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm as well as children ministries on Sunday mornings during our Main Gathering times.

What is our culture?

Discovery Fellowship sits in one of the most beautiful places on earth in the Pacific Northwest overlooking the Puget Sound. In Acts 1:6-8 Jesus tells His followers to go to "utter most" ends of the earth. It's interesting to think that geographically we are specifically who He was referring to. As the gospel has gone around the whole world in history. We are the "utter most" furthest point from where He made that declaration. We live in the least churched county of the one of the least churched states in the union. According to the last census 85% of our population in our county consider themselves "Atheistic" (belief: there is no God) or "Agnostic" (belief: don't know if there is a God).  This said: we live in one of the most spiritually hungry communities in our nation.  Our focus as a ministry to break down the barriers that hold people back from encountering the person and work of Jesus Christ.  Like our community we hate religion!  We believe that religion is defined by our society in this way: "Man trying to reach God". Reality is the Bible is very clear. Man cannot reach God! (Romans 3:23) We believe that God reaches us through His work on the cross. Therefore all religion is worthless and can save no one. Our intention is to introduce people to a right relationship with the father through the person of Jesus Christ! There are no suits here (although we are not against them) We are a casual church and believe that God is more concerned with our heart than what we are wearing.

What is our Mission?

In Genesis 1:28 God commissions man in creation to "Subdue" the earth. The hebrew word for this is "kabis" which broken down literally means: "To bring light into the dark places with hand of God!" That mission has not changed from then until now. As followers of Jesus we walk with that same commission to bring light into the dark places. Our message is of hope and grace to become fruitful in knowing Him and making Him known!

What we Believe?

About the Scriptures: We believe the entire Bible is the inspired Word of God and that men were moved by the Spirit of God to write the very words of Scripture. Therefore, we believe the Bible is without error.

About God: We believe in one God who exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is the second member of the Trinity (the Son of God) who became flesh to reveal God to humanity and to become the Savior of the lost world.

About Humanity: We believe that all people were created in the image of God to have fellowship with him but became alienated in that relationship through sinful disobedience. As a result, people are incapable of regaining a right relationship with God through their own efforts.

About Salvation: We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross, provides the sole basis for the forgiveness of sin. Therefore, God freely offers salvation to those who place their faith in the death and resurrection of Christ as sufficient payment for their sin.

About the Christian Life: We believe all Christians should live for Christ and not for themselves. By obedience to the Word of God and daily yielding to the Spirit of God, every believer should mature and be conformed to the image of Christ.

About the Church: We believe that the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus Christ is the head. The members of the church are those who have trusted by faith the finished work of Christ. The purpose of the church is to glorify God by loving him and by making him known to the lost world.

About the Holy Spirit: We believe in the gifts of the spirit and that the gifts are for the edification for the body of Christ. We believe that they are available to each and every member and encourage them to discover, develop, and use the gifts as the Spirit leads in our Worship.
